What To Expect

What to expect from your photo session.

Picture
Each session is unique, but all are meant to be fun and relaxed!  They usually last 2 hours, depending on the number and ages of subjects.  As a mother of four young children I know that kids may need a break and babies may have to nurse during a shoot.  This session won't be about poses and smiles with a stop watch ticking in the background.  It will be about you and whatever brings joy to your life.  My style of photography includes natural light, journalistic, and candid moments.  I want to capture moments of love and laughter, contemplation and curiosity.  And years from now when you look at these photographs, I believe you will cherish genuine moments...moments that might have been lost without pictures to preserve them.

Booking an appointment.

Picture
I book months in advanced, so please book at least 1-3 months in advance to help insure you get the date you want.  Newborn shoots should be done within their first 2 weeks of life.  Maternity shoots works best at around 34-36 weeks.  Babies photograph best at 2 weeks, 6 months, and 12 months.

How should I dress?

Picture
It's not necessary that couples or families dress in the same color shirts and pants.  However, wearing comfortable clothing in coordinating colors works great.  It is generally best to avoid large logos.  Keep in mind that grass or dirt may play a roll in your photo session!  Denim is a great choice for a carefree session, and it isn't quick to show wrinkles.  You are welcome to bring as many changes of clothing as you like.

Should I bring anything?

Picture
If the word "favorite" brings a few items to mind, I encourage you to gather them.  If your child has a favorite outfit, toy, blanket or book, then bring it along.  Whatever serves to bring out your personality is appropriate for your photo session.

Where will the photographs be taken?

Picture
You may choose the setting you prefer, or I can suggest one of several locations that would make a great backdrop to your session.  Sometimes the best location is your own backyard.  Although the background adds some character to your photographs, the most important element is you.  So in order to keep an unhurried, comfortable atmosphere, I take photographs in a single location.

Can I get a sneak peak of my photos?

Yes, as long as you sign the model release form, I usually will post a few pictures on my blog or facebook fan page so that you can get an idea of what's to come.
